PSQL/ Zen monitor is a application under the Actian folder that is used for monitoring database activity and analyzing performance.

PSQL/Zen  Monitor Tool

  1. Press Start and find the Actian Folder or do a search for PSQL Monitor. It could also be called Zen Monitor depending on the version of pervasive the run.

  2. Open the program up. You will see several different common tasks. Look for Monitor Server.

  3. If no server is found, at the bottom of that pop up you will see an option for New Server Wizard

  4. Click new Server Wizard and type in the Database server name.

  5. This will prompt you for a username and password. You will want to put in a windows username/password that can access the DB server (typically it is an admin or a user with admin credentials)

  6. Once you are connected you will see multiple tabs Active Files, Micorkernel Sessions, Resource usage,..etc.

  7. The three tabs we are interested in Active files, Micokernel Sessions, and Recourse Usage. Active Files- will tell you all the files that are currently being used and by which user. Micokernel Sessions will show you all the users that have an open connection to Agris. The third tab is Recourse Usage- this will tell you the user count your are licensed for and how many active session are connected to the database
