In this article, you will learn how to delete a dataset. Please note that the User ID attempting to delete a dataset must have security to delete and an AGRIS support representative will be needed to supply deletion keys for each package.

\uD83D\uDCD8 Instructions

  1. Sign into the Dataset you are wanting to delete.

Note: The logged in User Id attempting to delete a dataset must have system security level 6 in order to preform the deletion of the dataset.

  1. Go to Maintenance > Dataset Maintenance.

  2. Highlight the dataset and press delete.

  3. The system will prompt “Delete this Dataset”, select YesDataset?”

    1. Yes, continues to the next step.

    2. No, cancels the deletion.

  4. The Delete Package Files From Dataset window will appear displaying one package’s information within the dataset you are deleting. Answer the question “Do you want to delete the above package from this dataset?” Select…

    1. Yes, move continues to the next step 6.

    2. No, skip skips this package. System continues to the next package by repeating step 5.

  5. The system will display a 14-character access codenumber.

    1. Provide the 14-character access

    code
    1. number to an AGRIS support representative (1-800-366-2474) to receive a 3-character key (Alpha). (Note: Each package will have its own access code and key.)

    2. Select Ok to the 14-character access

    2. Cancel, skips this package. System continues to the next package, repeating step 5.

  6. Repeat steps 5 through 8 and 6 for all packages.

  7. Once all packages have been given the option to delete, the system will display one of two messages (a or b).

    1. “Database A00301072025114453 Removed Successfully.” Select OK and the system will display “This Dataset Has Been Totally Deleted.” Select OK and you will that it has been removed from Dataset Maintenance.

    2. “This Dataset Has Been Partially Deleted.” Select OK and go back through the delete process again to delete the package(s) that were skipped.

Notes:

  • Every copy of the dataset you are deleting will use the same access codes and keys. Keys are created when you initialize the dataset the first time. For example, code XYZ was keyed when NAME/ADDRESS was initialized and every copy of this dataset will use XYZ to delete the Name/Address package from the dataset. You can Reassign the Access codes to make them different via Customize > Reassign Access codes.

  • If you accidentally answer the “Do you want to delete the above package from this dataset?” question wrong, continue through the other packages. AGRIS will prompt that the dataset was partially deleted. Go back through the delete process again to delete the package(s) you skipped.

  • Once a dataset has been successfully delete, all files will have been removed from their dataset directory and can no long be accessed in Actian Zen/PSQL. The dataset number will be reused upon the next creation of a dataset. The system will warn the user that the directory already exist and if you wish to continue.
