But before clicking OK to proceed with the conversion it is always best to make sure of the following and do the following things.:

...

  1. Make sure you have a backup copy of the datasets you are about to convert

    1. Many of you You may have nightly backups that are being done to a tape backup or possibly a cloud backup solution, which is great; but many of or you may not have the access needed to make sure those backups are good or know how to restore them. And if you do, you know it can be somewhat time consuming to do so. For that reason, we suggest making a copy of the numbered folder your dataset resides in. The number next to the description of your dataset in the Dataset Selection Screen corresponds to the same numbered folder that exists in your Data Path. To make a copy, just open Windows File Explorer and browse to the Data Path to locate the numbered folder and right click it and click copy. Then right click just above or below that folder selection and click paste and it will create a copy of the folder. For instance, copying and pasting the 006 folder would create a folder named 006 - Copy containing all of the same files.

  2. Validate the dataset by clicking the Validate button

    1. When you validate the dataset it will create any files that might be missing that it knows should be there, as well as make the recommendation to rebuild a file if it finds a problem with the file. It will then offer to rebuild any problem files for you and we recommend you let it do so.

  3. Make sure there is no Warning showing

    1. If you see a warning such as highlighted below, there may be other applications, processes or services that are using the same data AGRIS is using that need to be stopped. In this case, cancel out of the conversion and determine what is accessing the data and stop it, then select the dataset again and if the warning is no longer present it is safe to click OK and proceed with the conversion.
