What is SJI?

The Agris System Journal Interface is a modular package in the Agris System Software™ and may be integrated with other accounting packages in the Agris System Software™ family for creation of summary journal entries which may be posted to Agris General Ledger System or exported for use with another general ledger system. The three character abbreviation SJI and the shortened title "System Journal Interface" are used interchangeably with the actual title "Agris System Journal Interface" throughout this training system.

What is System Journal Interface used for?

The Agris System Journal Interface maintains a database of system account (transaction) codes that direct the updating of specific ledger accounts from transactions that occurred in the integrated accounting packages. The system account codes is a centralized database where commonly occurring transactions are defined.

The Agris System Journal Interface links the Agris Payroll Accounting System, the Agris Bank Management System, the Agris Accounts Payable System, the Agris Accounts Receivable System, the Agris Inventory Management System, and the Agris Commodity Accounting System to the Agris General Ledger System or to another general ledger system through export/import features. An integral part of the integration is the ability to create summarized journal entries from the transactions in the source accounting packages and to post these journal entries to the general ledger files. The Agris System Journal Interface may be integrated with the Agris General Ledger System for verification of ledger account codes and for inclusion of ledger journal entries in the execution id reports.

The Agris System Journal Interface may be used without the presence of the Agris General Ledger System to create system journal entries that may be posted to another general ledger system. The system journal entries may be exported in ASCII text format for importing into another general ledger system. The system journal entries may also be transferred through the Agris Data Transfer System for posting (updating) to the files in an Agris General Ledger System located in a different dataset or located at a different site.
