The AGRIS 17.4.0 release has added:

AGS-452: Restricted Use Products - Ability to require an active Sales Order on a product-by-product basis  (Example use: FDA Veterinarian Feed Directive to maintain prescriptions for animal medicines)

Based on the FDA, you must maintain prescriptions and history for 2-years on certain animal medicines sold.  Restricted use requirements include the verification of a specific product license quantity (prescription) for a specific time period.

Requiring an active Sales Order for each sale, serves as the verification that the customer has the necessary license/prescription to purchase the product.

Inventory > Item Maintenance > View/Edit Inventory Items

"S" is now a new feature for the Restricted Product question.

"N" = no restrictions

"Y" = require a valid product license setup in Name/Address (same as before)

"S" = require an active Sales Order, unless they do have a license set up in Name/Address

An "Active" Sales Order means that the customer purchase only the remaining balance of the sales order/prescription and the shipment falls within the expected shipment date and expiration date.

Enhancements for this topic includes:

  1. Inventory Item Restricted Use Product Setup: Allow the Product to specify that a Sales Order is required (as shown above)
  2. Inventory Item Import/Post: Allow the new Restricted Use product setup option to be imported
  3. Inventory Invoicing: Require an active sales order for Sales Order restricted products
  4. Invoice Import/Post: Require the same business rules as the inventory invoice entry process
  5. Delivery Ticket Entry/Edit: Require an active sales order for Sales Order restricted products
