Adding your company logo to graphical forms and active reports

There are 3 methods for making the standard graphic forms and reports in AGRIS use an alternate logo in place of the one normally used by the system. The options here are listed in terms of priority. So for example if option 1 and option 3 are employed and both are applicable, that the image used by the system when the graphic form is generated will be the one associated with option 1.

BY INDIVIDUAL DATASET - Copy the desired logo into the AGRIS\DATASETS\NNN folder on the AGRIS database server and rename the image to logo_custom.jpg. In this case, NNN represents a numbered folder that corresponds to the number of a specific dataset in AGRIS. Using this method one could place an image file in the AGRIS\DATASETS\001 directory on the server, rename it to logo_custom.jpg and expect that any standard graphic forms/reports run in dataset 001 would use this image for the logo.

ACROSS ALL DATASETS AND PACKAGES (SYSTEM-WIDE) - Copy the desired logo into the AGRIS\SUPPORT folder on the AGRIS database server and rename the file so it is named logo_custom.jpg. By using this method, all datasets and all packages will use this image for the logo. By default, AGRIS client machines point to the AGRIS\SUPPORT folder on the server so by creating the logo_custom.jpg file in this directory, all of the clients will use that same image. If it was desired to have a single client PC generate reports using a special logo by having the one client machine point to its local AGRIS\SUPPORT directory and have a logo_custom.jpg file located there.

BY INDIVIDUAL PACKAGE - Copy the desired logo into the AGRIS\SUPPORT folder on the AGRIS database server. At this point, rename the file so it is in the format of logo_***.jpg, where *** represents the 3 character abbreviation for a package in AGRIS. By using this method it would be possible to make all forms and reports in the GRN package, regardless of dataset, use the same logo by placing a logo_GRN.jpg in the AGRIS\SUPPORT directory. (Creating a logo_GRN.jpg folder inside of the AGRIS\DATASETS\NNN folder does not work.)

If none of the 3 methods above are employed, then a standard AGRIS image will be used by the system. Be aware it is the <%SYS_Logo_Image%> tag added to the forms/reports that enables the options listed above to work properly.

Also note that logo files can sometimes appear corrupt when printing to a PDF file. Because of this, and to reduce memory consumption by graphic forms/reports, we recommend using an image that is no larger than 2" x 2" (192 pixels x 192 pixels) as the logo. It is possible to scale down a larger image to a smaller size using a utility such as Microsoft Paint (mspaint.exe).
