How to Apply an AGRIS License File [Quick Tip]

Attention! If you have a previous Agris.lic file that already exists, rename the old file “Agrisold.lic” before putting the new Agris.lic file in the Datasets folder.

When updating your license, if a window pops up stating New License File Id Does Not Match Current License Id and asks if you want to Keep Current License Id (see example), this may be an indication you are not applying the correct license file, or we may have provided you the wrong license file. Please contact support if such a window appears.

Example:

Attention! If running AGRIS 22.1 or higher, the Cultura AGRIS SYS License Service running on your server will need to be restarted after updating the license. Before updating the license, please have your users exit AGRIS. (If your version of AGRIS is older than 22.1, there is no license service, and users can remain in AGRIS while the license is updated.) Once you have updated the license and restarted the Cultura AGRIS SYS License Service your users can get back into AGRIS. Restarting the Cultura AGRIS SYS License Service requires administrative access to the AGRIS server. To prevent any prolonged downtime for your users, make certain you have the level of access required to restart the license service before updating the license.

  1. Locate the email you received that contains the AGRIS License File Agris.lic

  2. Save the Agris.lic file to the DATASETS folder on the AGRIS Server.

3. Open AGRIS and go to Help > Update Licenses

4. A pop up will appear asking if you wish to Update allocated Package Licenses? Select YES

5. You will be prompted for an Access code. Please contact the Support team at 800-366-2474 for help in applying the license and/or obtaining access codes.

Attention! Access codes are time-sensitive and cannot be created in advance.

6. After entering the access code another pop up will arise asking you to Select Source And Destination Paths. Copy the Destination path and paste it into Source so that both match.

Before

After

7. Confirm both paths match press OK

8. You will now Verify New License Allocations. The license Column describes what you are currently licensed for. Right next to it is the Upgrade To column. This represents what you are applying. Make sure the changes taking place are what you are expecting. If they are, press Apply. If not, reach out to a member of our customer support team.

The Upgrade To column in the example below is blank because no changes to the license count or available packages are taking place. If the license count were changing, the Upgrade To column would show the new user count. If Upgrade To were to show a 0, that indicates users will no longer have access to that package.

9. Once applied, the system will take you back to the home screen. If running AGRIS 22.1 or higher, it will prompt you to restart the license service and restart AGRIS.

  1. After the License Service has been restarted, users can get back into AGRIS

  2. To verify the changes you were expecting have taken place, go to Help > About AGRIS and Print the System Information and find the section called PACKAGE LICENSE INFORMATION.
