Moving Negative Sign from End of Number to Beginning in Excel

How to get rid of the hyphen (negative sign) at the end of a number so Excel recognizes as numeric figures

  1. Select cells

  2. Go to data

  3. Choose Text to Columns

  4. On screen 3 of “convert text to columns,” go to the advanced button

  5. Checkmark the “Trailing minus for negative numbers” box

  6. Select ok AND Finish

  7. The highlighted fields become a number with hyphen (negative sign) in front and can now be used for calculations in Excel
