AGRIS Customer Documentation
When prompted to install the new version, the machine does nothing.
The Database server has been upgraded with a new service pack. The auto-update appears to start okay when a client machine attempts to access AGRIS. When prompted to install the new version, the machine does nothing, an error message is never returned and the new service pack is not installed.
Run Update.exe manually from the Distribution path:
On the server, find Version.ini (AGRIS\Packages\SYS) and determine the UNC path that the server is referencing for the auto-update feature. The path will resemble
SERVERNAME\AgrisDist\V9On the workstation, go to Start - Run and enter in the path found in the Version.ini file
Click OK
Double click on Update.exe
You may encounter an error stating you do not have permission to access the file (correct the permissions)
NOTE: It may take several minutes for the update to actually begin running after double-clicking it
Correcting a Distribution Path permissions issue in Window 2003:
On the Windows Server 2003 machine, browse out to the AgrisDist folder and Share the V# folder inside
Browsing through My Computer, locate the AgrisDist folder NOTE: The AGRIS distribution folder for your network may have a different name
Right-click on the V# folder - Sharing
Click the radio button next to Share Folder As (it will default to V#)
Click on the Permission button and assign Everyone Full Control to the folder
Click OK and click OK again
Edit the Version.ini on the server to point to the new V9 Share
Find the version.ini as directed above
Edit the path so that it point directly to the V9 folder instead of AgrisDist\V9 (for example,
SERVERNAME\AgrisDist\V9 becomes
SERVERNAME\V9)Click on the Exit button and then click Yes to save the updated Version.ini file
Try the auto-update from the client PC again
Double-click the AGRIS icon
The update should launch and complete
