Error: Basic 70 Trying to Start AGRIS after updating 2003 with SP1 or SP2

Service Pack 1 or 2 for Windows Server 2003 may have been applied to the database server.  In Service Pack 1 & 2 for Windows Server 2003, security enhancements were made to the Component Services.  These changes limit rights that users accessing AGRIS™ must have.

To see what Windows Server 2003 Service Pack is installed on the database server:

  1. Go to the server

  2. Click Start - Run - type MSINFO32 and click OK

  3. Look at the top of the System Information Window for the following 2 values:

OS Name Microsoft(R) Windows (R) Server 2003
Version 5.2.3790 Service Pack 1 or 2

 

On the database server perform the following steps:

  1. Start - Programs - Administrative Tools - Component Services

  2. Double-click Computers

  3. Right-click on My Computer Select Properties

  4. Click on the Default Properties tab

-----a. Enable Distributed COM on this computer must be checked.

  1. Click on the COM Security tab

-----a. Click Edit Limits in the Launch and Activation Permissions section
-----b. Select the Everyone group
-----c. Add check marks to Remote Launch and also Remote Activation. All 4 check boxes should now be checked.

  1. Click OK and click OK again

  2. Close the Component Services window

  3. AGRIS should now open successfully.
