Modifying the AGRIS COM Services Password
To change an existing installation of AGRIS to use a different password, complete the following sections:
Change the password for the 'Services' user
Go to "Start" > "Settings" > "Control Panel" >"Administrative Tools" > "Active Directory Users and Computers"
Click on the 'Users' folder
Find the existing 'Services' user
Right-click on the 'Services' user and select "Reset Password..."
Change the password as desired
Close Active Directory Users and Computers
Update the AGRIS COM+ Applications to use the new 'Services' password
Go to "Start" > "Settings" > "Control Panel" > "Administrative Tools" > "Component Services" (for Windows Server 2012, click Start and type DCOMCNFG at the search option)
Double-click on "Component Services" > "Computers" > "My Computer" > "COM+ Applications"
Right-click on "Agris_ABS" > "Properties"
Click on the "Identity" tab
Modify the Password and Confirm Password fields to reflect the new password
Click Apply and OK
Repeat steps 3-6 for the remaining AGRIS COM+ applications (typically 4 or 5 altogether).
The new settings will take effect once the server is rebooted or all of the AGRIS COM+ objects are shut down and restarted. All users must be out of AGRIS before the COM+ objects are shut down. If necessary, the username can also be changed in this tab if the account has already been setup in Active Directory Users and Computers.
Comments
Other things to consider for the 'services' user: The ‘services’ user can be any username and any password, but should be an account that will never logon to a desktop session of Windows at the database server itself. The services user should be a domain user and it should be added to either the Administrators group or the Local Administrators group depending on if the database server is an active directory server or a member server respectively.
