Error: Basic #429 followed by Basic #91 after upgrade or reinstall of Pervasive Software

After upgrading to a newer release of Pervasive, the following errors are encountered while trying to start AGRIS:

ERROR NUMBER: BASIC #429 (AeUtils:clsAeUtils:AeCreateObject)
ERROR MESSAGE: ActiveX component can't create object >DTO.dtoSession<

ERROR OCCURRED IN PROGRAM AeData
ERROR NUMBER: BASIC #91 (AeData:clsAeData:AeGetDBName)
ERROR MESSAGE: Object variable or With block variable not set
INFORMATION: No additional information available for this error
RECOMMENDATION: Call AGRIS Customer Support, 800/366-2474

1. Click Start - Run...

2. Type CMD

3. Click OK

4. From the prompt type CD\Windows\System32 (might be WINNT instead of Windows)

5. Press ENTER

6. Type REGSVR32 DTO.DLL and press ENTER*

7. The message "DLLRegisterServer In dto.dll succeeded" appears**

8. Click OK

9. Exit the Command Prompt window by clicking the X in the top right corner

10. Start AGRIS V9

*In AGRIS 9.5.0.25, the system began using DTO2.DLL in place of DTO.DLL so it may be necessary to run REGSVR32 DTO2.DLL instead.  

**If the registration fails, then it may indicate that the file does not exist on the machine and/or an invalid Pervasive installation.  Try reinstalling and then installing the Pervavisve client again.  It may be necessary to download the client install files again if errors persist.  

Comments

• This can also occur if the wrong version of Pervasive is installed.  For example, this has been observed when Pervasive.SQL 2000i (7.9) was installed on an AGRIS V9.5.0 client machine.  Once the correct version of Pervasive was installed (Pervasive PSQL V10), the error was no longer encountered.
