AGRIS Customer Documentation

Data is inconsistent between client machines on a Network

On each client PC on the network, perform the following:

  1. Access the Pervasive Control Center (Start - Programs - Pervasive - Control Center).

  2. In the control center, click on the plus next to Pervasive.SQL Engines - [COMPUTER_NAME] - Configuration - Client.  Click on the Performance Tuning folder.  On the right-hand side of the window, double-click Use Cache Engine and set it to Off.

  3. Still under the Client section of the Pervasive Control Center, click on the folder called Access.  On the right-hand side of the window, double-click Set Use Local Microkernel Engine and change it to Off.

  4. In the Access folder, change the Target Engine setting to Server Only

  5. Set the Supported Protocols to TCP/IP only and the Timeout to 30.  Both of these settings can be found in the Communication Protocols folder on the left-hand side of the window.

  6. Click on the red exclamation mark (Apply) at the top of the Pervasive Control Center to save changes.  Click Yes.  Exit the Pervasive Control Center.

  7. Right-click on the Pervasive engine running on the taskbar and select Close Engines and Exit.

Retest the data scenario.

Note:  The local cache engine of the Pervasive.SQL V8 software causes this problem.  A User enters data on a client machine via the network.  When trying to verify the new data from another machine currently in Agris, the data is not found.  Only after the first machine is rebooted and its cache store is cleared is the data available to the other client machines.  Disable the Pervasive Cache Engine for all Client Machines.
