Background on Financial Force –
Professional Service group using multiple tools that were not integrated to SF for tracking PS Projects. Examples (Footprints, Spreadsheets, Smartsheets). The groups wanted one place to track all aspects of PS projects.
Why I use it:
I use it to create and monitor our Professional Service's Projects. Our folks are able to attach all pertinent correspondence regarding the project all in one area, they are able to record time against these task, and I am able to get an accurate margin per project. I use the time information weekly to send to accounting so that we can bill on a weekly basis versus monthly. As a side note there is an interface into GP but we have not tackled that yet we just started using Financial Force at the end of March 2017.
Notes:
Salesforce is the backbone of information for our organization so it made sense that we would have a product that literally sits on top of Sales Force versus the ones that "integrate" to Sales Force. We wanted to be able to see everything about our customers in one spot and not multiple applications by using financial force we are able to do that.
Our teams are small so I feel comfortable in saying we are only using a fraction of the application but what we are using we see the benefit already.
Resources:

Cost:
They have multiple types of licenses. I have attached our invoice as there are other charges
Field – Basically any user that works on a project as a team member and not a leader
Full – Full access to the applicationView – We don't use these
