Stock manufacturing is the computerized process of assembling "finished" products from various components or ingredients. This process increases the quantity on hand of the finished product and decreases the on hand quantities of the components or ingredients. If the process is applied to an active manufacture order, the Quantity On Order box is reduced on the finished product and the Quantity Committed box is reduced on the components.

The Stock Manufacturing option may be used to assemble a finished product for later use. The finished product may be a part that will be used in another manufacturing process. The finished product may be a commodity that you are "bagging" for later sale or use. The manufacturing process may include service (labor) such as grinding and may create "by-products" that may be sold or used in other processes.
