Overview
Use this job aid to create a simple crop plan in AgroGuide. The Advanced tab is used to create crop plans, or to view and edit existing crop plans. This tab provides additional flexibility in creating crop plans, such as the ability to set up multiple crop options for financial analysis.
To create a crop plan:
From the Toolbar, select AGY for AgroGuide.
From the AgroGuide menu, select AgroGuide.
On the AgroGuide Tree window, select a client from the entity tree, and then select the farm, field, or subfield for the crop plan.
Click the Crop Plan button in the lower left section of the AgroGuide Tree window to display the AgroGuide Crop Plan window with the selected Client, Farm, Field, and Subfield displayed.
Click the Advance Tab.
Click New to display a blank crop plan entry window.
In the Crop Plan Name box, you can edit the default crop plan name by typing a new name for the crop plan, up to 50 characters.
If crop plans have been previously defined for the land entity, you can select a plan as the basis for the new crop plan using the Defined Crop Plans drop-down list.
Or, in the Crop box, select a crop from the drop-down list of crops defined for the agronomy system.
The Area box contains the area of the land entity, as set up on the AgroGuide Tree window, but can be updated as needed.
In the Soil Test box, use the drop-down list to select from the list of available soil tests. A farm level crop plan allows selection of soil tests for the client or farm. A field level crop plan allows selection of tests for the client, farm, or field. A subfield level crop plan allows selection for the client, farm, field, or subfield. To view or edit the selected soil test, click View/Edit.
Update the Crop Year box if needed. Note: The default crop year is set to the current year if the current month is January through August. If the current month is September through December, the default crop year is set to the next year.
In the Previous Crop box, use the drop-down list to (optionally) select the previous crop for the land entity.
In the Previous Yield box, you can (optionally) type the yield obtained from the previous crop.
In the Recommendation System box, use the drop-down list to select the recommendation to use as the basis for the crop plan. This populates the nutrients and treatments for the crop plans. Note: The row in the nutrient grid labeled Filled contains the amount of the recommendation for each nutrient that has already been filled by selecting a treatment option. The row in the grid labeled Open contains the amount for each nutrient that is still open. Negative values are displayed in red. The open amounts can be used as the basis for selecting additional treatments to include in the crop plan.
Update any of the nutrient recommendations by typing the new value in the appropriate nutrient column.
In the Treat Type box, use the drop-down list to add treatments to the crop plan that fulfill the recommendations. As each treatment is added to the plan, the Filled and Open amounts in the nutrient grid are recalculated.
Up to four different crop options can be set up with accompanying recommendations within the same crop plan. This can be used to do a financial analysis of the various crop options. To add another crop option to the plan, Use the Crop drop-down list to select another crop, and then select a recommendation for the new crop option. Then, use the option buttons to select the crop option to view.
Click Ok to save the new crop plan and exit the window, or click Apply to save the plan and remain on the AgroGuide – Crop Planning window
***After a crop plan has been generated, a summary of the plan with the selected crop option can also be viewed on the General tab. When crop plan information is updated on either the Advanced tab or the General tab, the information is automatically updated on all tabs in the Crop Planning window.
***Generating a Sales Order for the Crop Plans is the same if the crop plan is generated on the General or Advance Tab. To review: go to the job aid for creating a simple crop plan.
