AGRIS Customer Documentation

I accidentally purged to the wrong date on my dataset. How can I restore it?

Warning --
Users that are not proficient navigating in Windows and My Computer/Windows Explorer should NOT attempt to do this.
If you are unsure of any of these directions, please call AGRIS Support instead of going through this process.  This will be a permanent deletion of your data files and it can be very costly to try and restore the files.

Warning --
These directions are for customers running on Actian Zen or PSQL only, not MS-SQL. Do not attempt this dataset restoration method on AGRIS if you are running on MS-SQL.

Note --
If you use Agsync with AGRIS, please complete the steps from https://culturatech.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ACD/pages/1540391350 after completing the steps below in order to restore communication between Agsync and AGRIS.

  • Go into AGRIS main menu, choose File

  • Click on "Select Dataset"

  • Verify the numbers to the left of your Live dataset and your Copied dataset (For example, live = 001 and Copied = 003.  Write these down.)

  • Go to Utilities > Login Inquiry and make sure users are still out of Agris., then close Agris.

  • Double-click "My Computer" on your desktop

  • Browse into your network drive, opening up Agris\Datasets

  • Double-click the folder containing your LIVE dataset

  • Touch CTRL A at the same time to select All Files

  • Touch Delete.  ** This is permanent!!  Do not do this unless you are sure you are deleting the badly purged dataset!! ** Click Yes.

  • When the delete has finished, click on Back then double-click the number corresponding to your copied dataset

  • Once again touch CTRL A to select All Files

  • Click Edit at the top of the screen, then COPY, then click Back

  • Double-click your LIVE dataset folder

  • Click Edit at the top of the screen, then paste

  • Once the files have finished copying, close the My Computer window and log into Agris

  • Select your live dataset

  • At the AGRIS Main menu, go to Maintenance - Dataset Maintenance

  • Select your Live dataset

  • Change the dataset name to what it was before the copy and also click Reassign Unique ID (You will need to contact support to obtain an Access Code)

  • At this point your users can log back in to Agris
