Error Log
Use Error Log on the Utilities menu to view or print any of the errors that are detected by the AGRIS system. Errors generated by AGRIS are recorded in an error log file as they are generated. The contents of the log are often examined by AGRIS Technical Support when helping you with a problem.
The error log contains errors relating to hardware conditions, data file corruption, Basic errors, Btrieve errors, and sort program errors. For example, the error generated by a printer running out of paper would be in the error log. The error log does not track invalid user response errors. For example, if you are warned about trying to save incomplete data, the error log does not contain the warning message.
The error log also records an entry whenever a workstation encounters a file retry or a record retry for a duration longer than 20 minutes. The errors shown are "Miscellaneous Error # 2 - Maximum File Retry Attempts Exceeded" and "Miscellaneous Error # 3 - Maximum Record Retry Attempts Exceeded."
Information in the file is stored in date order, from oldest to most recent. Contents of the error log file can be purged by using AGRIS System Manager > Maintenance > File Maintenance > Purge Data Files.
