Setting Up Seed Items

Overview

Use this job aid to setup seed items that will be used in formulations.  The seed items must first be setup in the Inventory Management System. 

To setup seed items:

1. From the Toolbar, click AGY for AgroGuide.

2. From the AgroGuide window, select General Setup Information, select Items - Seed.

3. In the Item Number box, click Lookup , type the seed item number, or click ellipse to search the business system for the seed item number. If you click Lookup, only items setup for the default location will display. If the system is set to use only one location, and the item number is manually added, the item must be valid for the default location.

4. Mark the Assume no volume change when used in dry formulation to indicate that when the seed is added to a formulation, the seed does not add to the volume of the fertilizer, however it will add to the density of the fertilizer.

5. Mark the Is Inactive check box to inactivate this item for all locations.

6. Click Location Details.

7. In the Location box, click Lookup , type the location code, or click  the ellipse to search for the location code. If the system is set to use only one location, the default location will display and the Lookup and Copy buttons are disabled.

8. In the Density box type in the seed density.  The density must be greater than zero.

9. In the Seeds/lb box, type in the seeds per pound.

10. In the Seeds Per Bag box, type the total number of seeds in a bag.

11. In the lb/Bag box, type the total number of pounds per bag.

12. In the Whole Bag Cutoff Factor box contains the decimal value that determines when to round to a whole bag. The value must be between .1 - 09. For example, if you type .2, then any amount that is .2 or greater is rounded up to the next full bag. Type the decimal value that determines when to round to a whole bag.

13. In the Application Unit of Measure box, click the arrow to the right to select the unit of measure to use when adding seed to the blend.

14. In Application Rounding box, type in the decimal precision you want to use when adding seed to a blend.  Application Rounding must be greater than zero.

15. In the Application Rate box, type the rate the seed is added to the box.  This can be left blank.

16. In the Scale Stops Increment box, type the decimal precision to use when rounding scale stops within a blend. The Application Rounding value defaults into this box, to change the value type the new value over the current value.

17. Mark the Is Inactive checkbox to make this item in this location inactive.

18. Click Copy, to copy the seed setup to another location.  The seed item must be setup in the business system location in order to use the copy function.

19. Click Okay.

20. Click Apply.
