Patronage (17.1.0)
The AGRIS 17.1.0 release has added:
1099 reporting - calculate and populate 1099-PATR Section 199 deduction information without requiring an import (for box 3) (i.e., flag deductions to indicate if it can be deducted from GROSS dollars to arrive at the amount that needs to be reported) (AGS-37)
There is now an option available to base per-unit retain allocations on the gross amount rather than the net. In order to ensure accuracy, there is no default for this field. The user must enter either "Y" or "N" before continuing with the process.
This enhancement is designed to:
- Minimize time to calculate the no pass through section 199 domestic credit for reporting in box 3 per unit retains portion of the 1099-PATR information returns.
- Reduce the chance of errors that might occur doing an export / calculation / import of the credit.
- Increase customer / member satisfaction level by reducing the number of patron calls concerning how the credit was calculated and for what quantities.
Navigation Path: Patronage Transactions > Source Allocation
Select option 5) Per-Unit Retain Allocations
Then indicate your choice of Gross Amount or Net Amount.
Base Settlements on Gross Amount:
- "Y" = "Gross Amount" is defined as the net quantity multiplied by the contract price, prorated to each individual split party of the final settlement. Note: This feature is only available if the check was issued from the Commodity module.
- "N" = "Net Amount" is defined as the final settlement dollars per individual split, post all deductions. The net is the amount that is on the check for each individual final settlement split.
A/P Disbursements For Commodity Vouchers:
- "Y" = Include any Commodity Settlements processed and paid through the Accounts Payable module. Note: The value for A/P Disbursements on Commodity Settlements is always the net settlement amount.
- "N" = Exclude any Commodity Settlements processed through the Accounts Payable module.
Special Considerations:
- In situations where a negative total allocation may be possible for a patron within the allocation period, the resulting allocation total will be set to Zero Dollars.
- Advanced Settlement Special considerations
- Gross Calculation Method - Do not include Advanced Settlements. Advances will be included at final settlement time.
- Net Calculation Method - Include Advance Settlements at time of the Advance issued.
Example of both Allocation Methods:
- NOTE: If the $10,313.49 Advance was in a previous calendar year, the $10,313.49 would have been allocated in that previous year under the Net Allocation method. Then the $2,578.37 would be allocated in the current year under the Net Allocation method. Under the Gross Allocation method, the $13,500.00 would be allocated in the current year.
