How to Add a New Printer in AGRIS [Quick Tip]

  1. Install the new printer in Windows. Validate printer setup by printing a test document from Word or notepad. (Note: The Windows default printer is what AGRIS uses to preview documents, so make sure your default printer is set to a current printer.) If you need help with this step please contact your IT department.

  2. Once you are able to print from the new printer from Windows, go into AGRIS > Customize > Workstations

  3. Select your workstation. AGRIS will default to highlight your current workstation, it also lists it at the top of the window.

  4. Select Ok on the Station Detail (1 of 2) screen

  5. When printing, AGRIS has three printer options

Those are defined on the Station Details (2 of 2) screen. You do not have to have three printers assigned to a workstation. This option allows printer selection to be more user friendly, as every computer can have different printers assigned.

  6. To define Printer #1, Select the dropdown > select your printer in Windows

Note: The name of the printer is assigned in Windows. You can change the name in printer properties to signify which printer it is, such as Check Printer, Front Office Printer, etc.

  7. Next you need to set text drivers. We have several to choose from and it may take some trial and error to find the correct one. If you set up a new printer and it doesn’t align correctly, start with the text drivers and see if you can find one that does.

To select text drivers, hit the magnifying glass icon

and choose a Text Driver from the list.

    Text Driver Information
SEPMX =  Assigned to OkiData Dot Matrix printers.
ASHP500 = Assigned to HP DeskJet 500 printers
ASHP600 = Assigned to HP DeskJet 600/800 printers
ASHPFORM = Use anytime you are printing forms such as checks or 1099's or W-2. (it controls the vertical spacing differently)
ASHPLJDJ = Generic Driver for all other Laser/Inkjet printers (used most often)
ASOKIMC = Okidate Microline Printer (used for very, very old Okidata printers)

  8. Once your printer is defined for your workstation in AGRIS and the text driver was assigned to the printer, validate that you can now print from AGRIS to your new printer.
