Possible Reasons BIN Goes Out Of Balance
There are probably more reasons that what is listed, but these are the most common and a place to start when investigating.
GRN position adjustments manual or automatic do not update the BIN package. If you do an adjustment in GRN, you need to do the same adjustment in BIN.
If a GRN ticket entry (ONE as well) Tare weight date/time stamp comes before the last emptied date/time stamp of the bin, the ticket will not update the Bin package. You can find Tare weight date/time stamp in Weights/Grade Certificates.
If you make changes to a ticket through weights/grade certs and you say N to update position, it will not update BIN or GRN position, BUT then you drill down in BIN on the list of tickets it will show the updated weight which will not match the front grid of List of tickets or the bin balance.
Manual Bin Edit (ALT-E) will not update GRN position. (a DPR audit transaction is created to show someone edited a bin - but no effect on GRN total stock - that is by design)
Entering weight certificates on a ticket assigned to a Bin, but the bin is now assigned to a different commodity - the change in weights will update the commodity position, but not the Bin, because that bin is no longer the same commodity and the ticket would not know which bin needs to be updated.
