Overview

Use this job aid to create or edit a crop.  A pre-loaded list of crops will be created upon a dataset creation or conversion of a dataset.

Creating a crop requires some or all of the following information:

  • Name of the crop               

  • The regulatory crop by which a formulation can be validated.

  • Crop type                            

  • Harvest unit of measure  

  • Trade unit value                 

  • Yield goal                            -

  • Is the crop a perennial or legume

To create a crop:

  1. From the Toolbar select AGY for AgroGuide.

  2. From the AgroGuide  menu, select Crop Plan Setup, and then select Crop - Edit.

  3. Mark the Show All to list all active or inactive crops in the drop down list.

  4. Click New, to create a new crop.

  5. In Crop Code, type in the crop code. This is a 15-character field.  Example: Cotton.

  6. In Crop Name, type in the description of the Crop Code. This is a 30-character field.  This description may be the same as the crop code.

  7. In the Yield UOM box, use the drop down arrow or type in the UOM associated with Yield for this crop.

  8. From the Area UOM drop-down list, select the harvest unit of measure for the crop.

  9. In the Yield Goal box, type the yield goal you expect for the crop and select the unit of measure from the drop-down list.

  10. In the Trade Unit box, type the count of the crop. From the drop-down list, select the trade unit for the crop.

  11. In the Estimated Price box, type in the estimated price for this crop.

  12. Mark Is Legume, if the crop is a legume.

  13. The Nitrogen Credit box will open up when you mark that this crop is a legume.  Type in the nitrogen credit for this crop.

  14. Mark Is Perennial, if crop is a perennial.

  15. From the Regulatory Crop drop-down list, select the crop to use as a standard against which formulations are validated.

  16. Un-check Is active if the crop is inactive.

  17. Click the Soil Bank Tab.

  18. The Nutrient List will show all active nutrients except for lime.  This list can not be added to.

  19. Set the Minimum/Maximum Soil Bank numbers.  These number will be used to set the minimum/maximums on the soil test graph during crop plan, if used.   The graph will use the minimum/maximum ranges set on the soil test types, otherwise. The soil bank is not required in order to create/save a crop.  

  20. In the Soil Test Column, use the lookup to associate a nutrient with a soil test type, if this is going to be used.

  21.  Mark delete to delete the nutrient from the list.

  22. Click Apply or OK to save changes.
