Setting up Recommendation System

Overview

Use this job aid to create recommendation systems to use during the crop plan setup.  

To create a recommendation system:

1. From the Toolbar select AGY for AgroGuide.

2. From the AgroGuide  menu, select Crop Plan Setup, select Recommendation, and then select Recommendation system to display the Recommendation Systems window.

3. Click New to create a new recommendation.

4. In the Recommendation System box, type the name of the new recommendation system.   • Note: It is recommended to be specific on the naming of the recommendation that is being built.  The only identifier during the recommendation selection process within the Crop Plan is by the recommendation name.   Example: Corn N removal 1lb.bu  or Corn P buildup 150 3yr.

5. In the Recommendation Type box, type Table or Removal, or select from the drop-down list.   Equations are currently not active in AgroGuide.

6. Table selection will display the Table Maintenance window from the Nutrient Recommendations Methods frame.  Table Maintenance allows the setup of multi-dimensional recommendation tables to be used in the Crop Plan process.   See Table Maintenance for more detailed help.

7. Removal selection will display the Removal Process window from the Nutrient Recommendations Methods frame.   Removal Process allows for setting up nutrient removals as well as build to factors for nutrient recommendations.  See Removal Maintenance for more detailed help.

8. In the Crops frame, click Add to display a list of crops setup in AgroGuide.   Select the crop(s) that this recommendation will apply to.   To select more than one crop, click Add again and make the additional selection.   To remove a crop from the list, click on the crop and then click Delete. Note: Only use a combination of crops that have the same yield UOM.   Example: Corn using bu/ac and Grain Sorghum using lbs/ac will not calculate correctly within the tables.

9. In the Nutrient Recommendation Methods frame, click Add to display the  Table Maintenance window or the Removal Process window respective to the Recommendation Type.   Click Edit to edit the selected table.   Click Delete to delete the selected table.  

10. Click Ok to save the entries and exit from the window, or click Apply to save the entries and remain on the Recommendation Systems window.
