Create Desktop Shortcut: Create desktop shortcut to launch AGRIS Dashboard
Open Windows Explorer
Browse to the AGRIS bin folder ex: c:\apps\agris\bin
Scroll to AGRIS.Sys.Menu.exe and Right click → Send to → Desktop (create shortcut)
We suggest naming the shortcut or AGRIS Dashboard or something similar
Modify AGRIS.INI: only if the Dashboard Service is running on a different machine
Add “Dashboard Service URL=dashboard_service_url_goes_here” to AGRIS.ini.
Example:
Open AGRIS.ini in a text editor
Add this line to AGRIS.ini
Dashboard Service URL=http://localhost:9091/api/SysDashboardRequest
no spaces before or after the =
Replace localhost in prior step with the machine name (or ip address) that is configured to run the Dashboard Service.
Launching AGRIS Dashboard
Double click the AGRIS Dashboard shortcut on the desktop to launch AGRIS
At this point, if you have not yet subscribed to any widgets or favorites, then no widgets or favorites will be displayed
AGRIS Dashboard Log in
Once the AGRIS Dashboard shortcut is available, the user will be able to launch the Classic System Support main menu, as well as the AGRIS Dashboard.
AGRIS Classic is the original AGRIS shortcut to launch AGRIS without the dashboard
AGRIS Dashboard is the shortcut that launches AGRIS with the Dashboard Widgets and Favorites
After clicking on the Agris icon, a new AGRIS splash screen will be displayed while the user selects and logs into the dataset.
After logging into the dataset, the System Support Dashboard will be displayed. This includes all options of the AGRIS main menu, along with the user’s dashboard widgets and favorite reports. The widgets will be overlaid on top of the dataset background image. The links to their favorite reports will be available in the grid at the bottom of the dashboard.
The image above is just a sample of what the dashboard might look like for a particular user with some of the standard widgets displayed. All dashboard widgets can be custom designed/developed with Active Reports. They are able to be visually modified, as well as contain the data that would be relevant for each user’s particular responsibilities. All customizations can be made by anyone capable of modifying the SQL Query and visual layout within Active Reports. Each widget is directly linked to an existing report in the system. A new widget can be added to the reports that users are currently familiar with, whether they are text-based or graphic reports.
The first time into the dashboard, the user has not yet subscribed to any dashboard widgets or favorites, so their Dashboard will appear similar to this, with the appropriate background image for that dataset.
Now they are able to subscribe to Widgets and Favorites - How to subscribe to Widgets and Favorites
