Creating a Budget Account

Overview

Use this procedure to create a budget account in the current year budget. This job aid is used to select a specific account from the Chart of Accounts to link budget information to.

To create a budget account:

  1. From the Toolbar, click LDG for General Ledger.

  2. From the General Ledger menu, select Budget Information, and then select Budget Account Maintenance.

     

  3. In the Account Code box, or type the account code you want to add budget information to.

  4. In the Detail Code box, or type the detail code you want to add budget information to.  

  5. In the G/L Location box, click Lookup or type * and press Enter, and then select the general ledger location, or type the general ledger location you want to add budget information to.

  6. Click OK.

     

  7. In the Number of Periods box, type the number of journal periods to distribute the budget amount to.

  8. In the Beginning Period box, type the journal number you want to start the number of periods distribution in. All journal numbers must exist in your dataset.

  9. In the Update Option box, type 1 for budgets only, 2 for forecasts only, or 3 for both.

  10. Click OK.

     

  11. In the Budget Amount, Budget Quantity, Forecast Amount and Forecast Quantity boxes, type a debit or credit amount.

  12. Click OK
