Creating a Farm

Overview

Use this job aid to create a Farm in AgroGuide.

To create a Farm:

  1. From the Toolbar, select AGY for AgroGuide.

  2. From the AgroGuide menu, select AgroGuide

  3. To select a client, type the name of the client in the Client box, or click to access a list of clients in Name/Address. From the drop-down list, select the client

  4. On the Client frame, click New Farm to display a blank Farm frame.

  5. Click the General tab, if not already displayed.

  6. In the FSA Number box, type the Farm Service Agency number for the farm.

  7. In the FSA Area box, type the assigned Farm Service Agency area for the farm, including a unit of measure from the drop-down list. This area is used as the basis for participation in various government programs.

  8. In the Spatial Area box, type the area for the farm. This can be different than the FSA area if the farm has been measured spatially and aerially. This is the area that is used for crop planning calculations.  If using the Mapping, this field will automatically fill in after the map has been setup.

  9. In the Section box, type the legal section number for the farm.

  10. In the Range box, type the legal range of the farm.

  11. In the Township box, type the name of the township (up to 30 characters) where the farm is located.

  12. In the Parcel box, type the section subdivision of the farm, if applicable. Note: The section, range, township, and parcel can be printed on field tickets supplied to the applicator.

  13. In the State box, type the 2-digit state abbreviation, or use the drop-down list to select a state code. The state is used for the Regulatory Quick Check.

  14. In the County box, type the county name, or use the drop-down list to select a county from the list. The county is also used for the Regulatory Quick Check.

  15. In the Soil Texture box, use the drop-down list to select one of the texture options. Soil texture is also used for the Regulatory Quick Check.

  16. In the Watershed box, use the drop-down list to select the watershed the applies to the farm. This information is for reference only in preparation for future enhancement.

  17. In the Longitude box, type the longitude location of the farm, between -180.00000000 and 180.00000000. This information is for reference only. If using the Mapping, this field will automatically fill in, after the map has been setup.

  18. In the Latitude box, type the latitude location of the farm, between -90.00000000 and 90.00000000. This information is for reference only.  If using the Mapping, this field will automatically fill in, after the map has been setup.

  19. Mark the Is Irrigated check box if the farm is irrigated.

  20. Verify that the Is Active check box is marked, if the farm is to be an active farm for the client.

  21. Completing the Legal/Notes Tab.

  22. Click the Legal/Notes tab to set up additional farm information, if not already selected.

  23. In the Legal Description box, type the legal description for the farm.

  24. For the purpose of generating reports that meet legal requirements, you must type all legal information in the box. Even if some of the legal information is already included in other boxes on the window, you need to retype the information in the Legal box.

  25. Enter the legal description for the location of your land. The legal description is found on the deed to the land or you can use the Public Land Survey System (PLSS). PLSS is used in legal descriptions and employs a grid system based on township, range, and section numbers. An example of a PLSS legal description: N 1/2 SE 1/4, SW 1/4, S24, T32N, R18E

  26. In the Notes box, type any internal company notes pertaining to the farm. These notes do not print on customer reports or forms.

  27. In the Print Comment box, type any information to be printed on sales orders, delivery tickets, and invoices pertaining to this farm.

  28. Click Ok  to save the farm and exit from the window, or click Apply to save the farm and remain on the AgroGuide Tree window. The farm is now added to the tree under the selected client. The icon next to the farm identifies it as either active or inactive, as set up.

  29. You can also edit the existing farm or inactivate a farm.
