Setting Up The Discount Codes

Navigate to GRN>Commodity Tables>Discount Codes

Open

Enter the code to be used for Whole Kernel

Open

Enter the Name of the discount code and make sure you have it as enter grade factor. The other questions can be answered as needed for your business.

Do the same with Milling Yield

On Broken Kernel make sure Grade Factor Method is a 2

This will bring up another screen, you need to enter the codes for whole kernel and milling yield. Make the + a -, so that it subtracts the amount.

On the commodity code you need to add these discounts. Go to GRN>Commodity Tables>Commodity Codes and go to edit commodity.

On the second screen, you will add the whole kernel and milling yield with your other discounts, leave several spaces blank then add broken kernel.

This puts broken kernel in another column on ticket entry, since the system calculates it and you don’t need to enter it. Example below:

Hit save and exit on the commodity.

How To Enter The Discount Table For Whole Kernel

The USDA puts out the rates and a chart of what the rates should come to. It has the rate for Whole and Broken and shows you where 0 is.

You will enter the tables for whole kernel, with the 0 at 55. So to determine the discount for 1, you will multiply 54*rate=1 discount. For example. If you have 0.1115 and multiply that by 54 your table will start at 6.021. Then for each 1 percent the grade goes up, the discount goes down by 0.1115, until it gets to 0 at 55.

Over 55 is a premium, so you next set of numbers will start at 56 as 0.1115 and will go up by that for each whole number.

How to Enter The Discount Table For Broken Kernel

Broken kernel is set up much the same way. The rate listed by USDA for broken is 0.0674. Except the number for 0 is 15. So you will take 0.0674 x 14 = 0.9436 is your number for 1.

Then you will go from 16, going up as a premium.
