Batch Change Name IDs with Spreadsheet

Changing AGRIS Name IDs by using a spreadsheet

The Change Name ID process for a batch of name IDs can be run through a comma-separated file. To do this, the file called ChgNamId.csv must be saved in the dataset directory.

It is recommended that you save a copy of your dataset prior to beginning this process!

  1. Run Name export to CSV

    1. NAM > Report Manager > Name Address Reports > 1. Print Standard Reports > 15. Name Address Export Spreadsheet

  2. Once this runs, delete everything except for column B, which will now become column A

  3. In Column B, now enter the new Name ID

  4. Make sure there are no headers at the top, and that A1 is the first Name ID that is to be changed, and that B1 is the new Name ID.

  5. Save this file as ChgNamId.csv in the dataset folder (in this example, Agris\Datasets\004)

  6. To get the new Name IDs into AGRIS, go to NAM > Name/Address Maintenance > Change Name ID. A new option will now be opened up (by saving the CSV file in the dataset folder). Select Y for Process Batch Change Name ID From File?

  7. Take note of the warnings on this screen. Do not stop the process, it will take some time. Make a backup copy of your dataset prior to running the process.

  8. Print the generated report to the Spool. This will show any changes made
