MSSQL Server sizing guidelines
Planning for MSSQL here are a few guidelines to ensure sizing requirements are considered.
Step-by-step guide
Following MSSQL recommended server sizing is very important for optimum performance of AGRIS on MSSQL.
When using MSSQL servers it is important that you let MSSQL do what it is intended to do.. manage the MSSQL databases. This means that you will also need to configure an AGRIS Application server. This server should exceed the standard server minimum requirements for PSQL.
As you need to scale the size of the infrastructure.. Consider as a rough rule of thumb 20-25 AGRIS users per Remote Desktop Server / Terminal server / Citrix Metaframe server.
If your organization size is planned to be 50+ employees or greater you should also consider an AGRIS component server to balance the processing load on the AGRIS application server. (Typically this should be considered at the point your are using 2+ Remote Desktop Servers / Terminal servers or Citrix Metaframe servers),
Network communication speed is very important between the MSSQL server, AGRIS Application server and any remote client servers for optimum performance.
MSSQL servers perform better when more RAM is available in our experience the MSSQL server with 22 GB of RAM or more has seen very good results.
Disc read write speeds should be considered very important (faster will result in better AGRIS processing performance). AGRIS communicates best when configuring your server environment with the fastest read / write speeds possible. SSD drives we have seen very good results.
