Variety Class Setup For Use in BIN, GRN, and INV

Adding a Bin in the Storage Management System

  1. Add a Bin option is found by going to Storage Bin Information and Add a Storage Bin. The Storage Facility, a single alpha-numeric character field, is a required field. The Bin Code is an optional three character alpha numeric. Enter an appropriate Bin Code to identify the Bin within the Storage Facility. The field may be left blank.

  1. Give the Bin a Description. The description will appear in various screens and reports. All remaining fields are optional. The fields in the lower section are used in calculation the capacity of the storage facility bin. A percentage of the capacity is displayed in oneWeigh if the Bin System is integrated for use.

  1. Assign a Commodity: This is the last step prior to being able to use the Bin. Each bin may be assigned to a specific commodity-variety-class which must already exist.

Setup and Manufacture of an Inventory Item in Inventory Management System:

  1. A GRN Commodity Type Inventory Item is needed to reduce the stock in the Commodity Management System. The Commodity/Variety/Class field is what is used to select BINS for inventory use.

  1. Setup of a Manufactured Item with the GRN Commodity as its Component. The GRN Commodity Item is added as a Component item in a Manufactured Type Item.

  1. Stock Manufacture: The following are the screens that surface when trying to manufacture an item that has a GRN Commodity item as a Component.

The screen below will surface during the Manufacture process. Clicking on the ellipse displays the available bins. In my example only bins with a Variety/Class of AZT C are valid.

Picking the wrong Commodity or Variety/Class will trigger the following message.

After selecting a qualified bin, the system will display the Bushels Available and the Cost per Bushel of the Inventory in that Bin.

  1. Stock Manufacture – Substituting another Variety/Class. Substitutions can be made but you have to get to the Update option before that can take place.

Select 2) Display Component Usage Data and then Select the GRN Commodity Item.

Click on the ellipse next to Substitute Item.

Select another GRN Commodity Type Item.

Click on the ellipse next to Storage Facility to select a bin with the substitute Variety/Class. In my example I switched from WW-AZT-C to WW-AZT-R

Selecting another Bin restarts the process.

Finishing the Manufacture Process
Selecting 1) Update Manufactured Stock completes the Manufacturing process.

If the Item is setup to use Sub Items then the system will prompt for a lot number assignment.

Updating the Average Cost in the Storage Management System
The Cost per Bushel can be updated by periodically running the Average Cost Calculation Report found by going to Storage Management, Report Manager and Storage Bin Reports. The system can be updated by Select 6) Average Cost Calculation.

The report by default will show the average cost of the inventory in the bin. Updating the value is accomplished by changing the response to the question Update Average Cost to a Y = Yes.
