Error 1628 Installing AGRIS

The Service Pack is for a different version of AGRIS V9 than is currently installed on the machine.  For example, trying to apply SP5 for V9.4.1 will result in the 1628 error if the machine is only running V9.4.0.

Upgrade the machine to the correct Major Release and then apply the appropriate Service Pack. To install a Major Release you will need access to either an Installation CD or the Agrisdist folder.

If upgrading a standalone machine, please obtain the latest Installation CD, install that and apply the latest Service Pack.

If upgrading a client machine that runs AGRIS V9 via a network, please verify the current version of AGRIS V9 (Help > About AGRIS V9) and make sure the Service Pack is for that version.  If not, please download the correct Service Pack for your version. Service Packs (Update.exe) can be found at:

ftp.agris.com

Additional Information:
Starting with V9.4.0, a new Release Version scheme was introduced.  The first 3 numbers of the Release Version indicate the Major Release and the 4th number in the sequence identifies what Service Pack is currently installed.  9.4.0.14 indicates that V9.4.0 is installed and Service Pack 14 has been applied.

Note: Confirm that the user installing/upgrading AGRIS V9 has administrative rights.  1628 errors that have NO wording associated with them can be caused by not having local administrative rights on the machine.

Comments

  • A 1628 error (failed to complete installation) can also be encountered while trying to install an AGRIS Service Pack on a machine that does not have AGRIS installed...
